About Kernel

Kernel provides crazy fast, open source infrastructure for AI agents to use the internet. Our API allows developers to instantly spin up secure browsers and automate anything on the web. We handle all the hard problems of running browser-based agents in production: agents x user credentials, autoscaling, bot detection, and human-in-the-loop workflows.

We're used by teams at Cash App, Vercel, Framer, Rye, and over 5,000 developers for tasks like QA automation, RPA, virtual assistants, and CUA RL environments. We've raised $22M from Accel, YCombinator, Vercel, Paul Graham, Solomon Hykes (Docker), David Cramer (Sentry), Charlie Marsh (Astral), and more.

About the role

As a Technical Content Engineer at Kernel, you're a builder first: someone who ships code, then writes, records, or talks about what you built. You're fast, hands-on, plugged into what's new in the agentic stack, and comfortable using AI tools to move quickly without it showing in the final product.

You'll build real things with Kernel (agents, demos, SDKs, sample apps), then turn that work into blog posts, videos, and tutorials that show developers how to do the same. You'll be the public face of Kernel's developer experience, growing our community of builders shipping browser-based AI agents, and feeding what you learn back into product, engineering, and marketing.

What you'll do

  • Build sample apps, demos, and agents on Kernel, then turn them into tutorials, videos, and blog posts that drive developer signups

  • Own content end-to-end: concept, code, docs, and video

  • Script, record, and edit polished video walkthroughs and demo reels

  • Engage with the developer community on GitHub, Slack, Discord, and X, answering questions and amplifying what people build

  • Partner with Engineering, Product, and Marketing on the content roadmap and calendar: pick themes, set the quality bar, and keep a steady stream of new material around launches

What we're looking for

  • You're a builder first who's excited to ship something and then talk about it

  • Hands-on experience building with AI agents, LLM apps, or other agentic tooling

  • Strong writing skills: you know what good developer content looks like, and you can use AI tools to help produce it

  • Comfortable across formats: writing, video, code, and the occasional live presentation

  • Curiosity about the agentic web and Kernel's space: browser infrastructure, agents, autonomous workflows

Nice to have

  • You've been a software engineer or hobbyist developer

  • Experience with MCP servers, browser automation, or other agent infrastructure

  • A following or track record in a developer community: blog, YouTube, X, or open source

What you can expect as a Kernel

  • Industry-competitive salary and equity

  • Premium medical + dental coverage + dependent coverage

  • Small, high-trust team of senior + staff engineers

  • Default async with minimal bureaucracy

  • Daily lunches on us

  • Unlimited PTO

  • 401k + company match

  • Relocation assistance

Hiring process

  1. 30-minute intro call with one of Kernel's co-founders

  2. 45-minute technical/portfolio interview (virtual) — bring examples of things you've built and content you've made

  3. Half-day on-site (virtual or in-person), working with the team on a real content challenge

  4. Offer!
