Lead Data Platform Optimization & Intelligence Engineer (Snowflake/Databricks)
FinOpsly
FinOpsly is the AI brain behind cost decisions across cloud, data, and AI — built to think, plan, and act. Purpose-built for today’s complex enterprise environments, we unify FinOps across AWS, Azure, Snowflake, Databricks, and modern AI workloads — enabling organizations to move from cost reporting to cost action.
We are building a differentiated optimization and cost intelligence module to help enterprises reduce costs, improve performance, and maximize ROI on their data platforms. We are seeking a hands-on platform expert with deep knowledge of Snowflake or Databricks (ideally both). This role combines platform administration with optimization intelligence. You will translate your expertise into customer-facing insights, recommendations, and automation features that differentiate our product in the market and empower enterprise customers to save more.
What You’ll do:
- Analyze workloads, queries, clusters/warehouses, jobs, and services to identify inefficiencies and savings opportunities.
- Build recommendation engines and automation pipelines to execute optimizations (e.g., auto-suspend clusters, scaling, caching, query/job improvements).
- Implement continuous monitoring and intelligence dashboards for cost and performance optimization.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to embed optimization insights into customer-facing modules.
- Act as platform administrator for Snowflake or Databricks across enterprise/SaaS environments.
- Manage security, RBAC, workspace/account configurations, integrations, and resource controls.
- Stay ahead of new Snowflake/Databricks features and translate them into marketable product differentiators.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience with Snowflake or Databricks administration & optimization.
- Proven expertise in platform internals:
Snowflake: warehouses, queries, clustering, services, resource monitors.
Databricks: clusters, jobs, Delta Lake, Spark optimization, autoscaling, Unity Catalog.
- Strong SQL + Python skills for automation, monitoring, and recommendation logic.
- Experience in multi-tenant SaaS environments and cost governance.
- Track record of delivering performance gains and cost savings through platform-level optimizations.
- Startup mindset: hands-on, automation-driven, customer-value obsessed.
Preferred:
- SnowPro Advanced (Database Admin/Architect) or Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional.
- Background in FinOps / cloud cost optimization practices.
- Experience with automation frameworks (Terraform, dbt, Airflow).
- Prior experience embedding platform optimization features into SaaS or FinOps tools.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOC2, GDPR, HIPAA).
Success Metrics (First 3 – 6 Months)
- Deliver differentiated optimization and cost intelligence insights for Snowflake or Databricks environments.
- Release customer-facing recommendations and dashboards for cost and performance improvements.
- Build automation pipelines that surface and execute optimizations in near real-time.
- Demonstrate measurable customer savings and performance improvements.
- Position our optimization module as a market differentiator for enterprise customers.
