Our first application empowers residential property owners with a comprehensive risk management tool that offers AI-powered tenant credit assessments, ongoing credit health monitoring, and effortless payments. We enable transparent, secure relationships between landlords and tenants, built on mutual benefit and financial security.

At Sunrise AI, we extend our mission beyond the rental ecosystem, encompassing mortgages, student loans, auto finance, credit cards, insurance, and more. By promoting financial inclusivity, we aim to transform how creditworthiness is determined and make fair access to capital a reality for all.

As a Backend Engineer at Sunrise AI, you will play a vital role in developing our cutting-edge technology infrastructure and maintaining the software architecture. Join us in building the early prototype and minimum viable product (MVP) solution.

We offer a full-time opportunity and are open to remote workers within 3 time zones of California (PDT / GMT -7).

Responsibilities:

Write code and tests, build prototypes, resolve issues, and profile and analyze bottlenecks.
Design robust APIs to support mobile and desktop clients.
Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud.
Optimize web applications for performance and scalability.
Develop automated tests to ensure business needs are met, and allow for regression testing.
Build and maintain the backend infrastructure using AWS services such as API Gateway, Cognito, Lambda, and DynamoDB, along with Terraform and Python.
Collaborate closely with our Frontend Engineer and Technical Co-Founder to ensure seamless integration of the backend infrastructure.
Architect scalable and robust backend solutions that align with the vision and goals of Sunrise AI.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience working as a Backend Engineer, with a strong focus on building scalable and efficient systems.
Extensive expertise in Python and experience with relevant frameworks.
Proven track record of building and maintaining backend infrastructure using AWS services and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform.
Demonstrative track record of aligning with our Mission, Vision, and Values.

Nice to Haves:

Previous experience in an early-stage start-up is highly desirable.
Familiarity with the fintech industry or payment platforms will enhance your understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the space.
